In 1967 Victor Clifford Howard started V.C. Howard Hay Company. He traveled to communities around the Litchfield area in his 4020 John Deere tractor, grinding hay for farmers. Brad and Brent graduated from Litchfield High School, and in 1977 Brad left college to return home to help with the business. Brent started full time right after he was out of high school in 1978. We always will say Dorothy was the back bone of the company.
In 1988 Vic and Dorothy Howard retired and moved to Broken Bow. Dorothy Howard died in 1997, and Vic Died in 1998. Ronda Howard died in 2010.
January 1st, 2020 the company was bought by Bakko Bros., Loren & Steve Bakko and family out of Glenwood, MN. We are excited about this new change of ownership, business will go on as usual but under a new name, Howard Hay Company. We will continue to grind hay year around. In the fall we have numerous feedlots we grind for and pack wet corn as well as pack silage. We have a wonderful repair shop that we do welding & maintenance as well as a tire shop not only for us but also our customers.
Today, the company is owned by Loren & Carmen Bakko & Steve Bakko.
